Michael Roberts, a North Carolina native, created The Art Department. After realizing painting and an interest in other creative art ran in the family, he knew bringing in his wife (Heather) and mother (Angelina) would elevate the company. 

      

Angelina’s experience comes from working as a graphic designer, painting billboards back before they were printed and electronic, and years of independent mural and faux painting. Michael learned much of what he knows today by painting with his mother from a young age.

 Michael's education began with his mother Angelina and continued with classes at SECA, Sawtooth Center, and attending the high school visual art program at UNCSA. Michael continued onward by having gallery shows and dedicating himself to mural and faux painting. During this time Michael met Heather, a fellow artist with interest in photography and theater painting. A few years later Heather earned her BFA at UNCSA in scenic painting and one month later they were happily married.  

       

Now in 2016, Michael, Heather, and Angelina are focused on specialty painting for residential and commercial properties. With a combined experience of 40+ years, The Art Department is here to tackle anything pertaining to painting or art with precision and skill.
